Description
Back in 2010, I wrote:
"Buckeye butterflies are usually very common in my backyard garden. They vary from somewhat faint brown in color to rich browns and bits of orange on them. This couple stayed near each other the entire time I watched. There is something so peaceful about just sitting out in a sunny garden and watching butterflies!"
I wish I could say that Buckeye butterflies are still common in my yard. Sadly, I have to say I have not seen one since 2015. I cannot express how sad this makes me and I cannot explain why this is the case. People who don't pay attention, do not see the changes that are happening right in our very own yards, in our gardens, in our towns.....but things are changing, and it is not good. It is easy to pay folks to come spray our yards to kill pesky fleas and ticks, but we must remember poison kills everything. We need to pay attention and try to be good stewards of this Earth! Plant flowers and maybe we need to learn to love weeds and bugs!
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
