Description
So . . . I am going on lots and lots of walks around my neighborhood like so many others trying to stay home and away from crowds. I have met more neighbors (from a distance) and have noticed more and more things that I at not paid attention to before.
I have always enjoyed the beauty of trees and tree parts. On this particular day the trunks were still wet from the previous night's rain and so their colors were a bit deeper. I've always loved the look of lichens growing on bark, but this one I thought was especially cool when viewed from this angle.
I believe this is Physcia adscendens lichen, also called Rosette lichen. I read that although many people fear this growth may damage their tree, it is, in fact, harmless. With that knowledge though comes a word of warning. Lichen is more likely to grow on a plant or tree that is in distress! So If you see it on one of your trees, you might just want to have a quick check on its health!
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
