Description
There is just something mesmerizing about looking into the 'eye' of a Coneflower. (Echinacea) The structure just seems to pull you in and I feel as though it is trying to hypnotize me with its beauty!
I love having these scattered all around my Ohio backyard. The central disc florets of produce plenty of nectar that attracts bees, butterflies, and other insects to my garden. It is heaven on Earth watching my beloved butterflies fluttering over coneflowers in full bloom.
Attracting pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, helps increase the yield of vegetables and fruit crops that favor cross-pollination. Even when the blooms die and cold weather has hit, I leave those central discs standing in my garden to attract goldfinches through the Fall and winter.
It is a perennial that is drought resistant and can grow in full sun or add a great touch of bright color in a shady spot.
