The simple stunning elegance of a Nelly Moser Clematis flower!

It is finally Spring in Ohio and my mailbox is surrounded by blooming Columbine flowers. I love all of the various shades of pinks and purples these self-seeded plants bless me with every year, and rising up between them all is my Nelly Moser Clematis. This climbing perennial vine is also a favorite of mine. The star-shaped petals with a pink blush are splashed with a darker pink ribbon down each center. To me it seems that the center stamen form a floral firework to celebrate spring!
